Raúl Bustamante Miller is the general manager of the Hotel InterContinental Cartagena

Cartagena de Indias. In an event in Buenos Aires, Michael Herrmann, Regional Director of Operations for the Caribbean , Central and South America awarded the annual prize to the top performing manager.

In their evaluation, the jury not only took into account the financial results and the completion of operational goals but also the commitment to the community, the work of the staff, the maintenance and preservation of the property, the implementation and the use of IHG systems and the excellent communication with the investors.

Upon receiving the distinction, Bustamante Miller commented: “ I dedicate this recognition to my management and operational team, without whom I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this in so little time. Equally to Cartagena for their generous welcome and I will continue to strive to increase the number of visitors in the sectors of holiday tourism and Congresses and Conventions that is so important for our destination as the great generator of employment.”

Bustamante Miller, Antioquian hotelier with more than 30 years of experience, joined the International Hotel Group (IHG) in February 2017 to manage his hotel destinations in Cartagena.

Under his management and leadership the InterContinental Cartagena de Indias has been able to become one of the leading hotels in the city in the sector of business travelers, congresses and conventions as well as national and international tourism who have arrived for pleasure to discover the various attractions of the city.

Recognized as an integral hotelier, Bustamante Miller enjoys getting involved in every detail of the daily operations and as an example he directs and teaches his team so that each guest lives an authentic InterContinental experience.

A veteran of the hospitality industry, Bustamante Miller since his arrival to the city, has made valuable contributions to the hotel industry and tourism sector in general contributing with his experience to the Board of Directors of the Convention & Visitors Bureau and to the Colombo-American Chamber of Commerce of which he is president as well as from the vice presidency of the Corporturismo Board of Directors and as a member of the Board of Directors of Cotelco.
